Internal promotion for wholesale business boss
United Utilities has appointed Steve Fraser as its chief operating officer, with effect from 1 August.
Fraser is currently managing director of United Utilities Water's wholesale business, a position he has held since 2013.
Fraser joined United Utilities in 2005 from Bethell Group, where he served as an operations director, on his appointment the water company's chairman John McAdam said: “Steve has significantly improved operational performance in the wholesale business of United Utilities Water and taken it into an industry leading position.
"Before that, he held other senior management positions in the group. We are delighted that he will be joining the board as an executive director.”
Earlier this month, United Utilities received a summons from the Drinking Water Inspectorate and is facing charges over a cryptosporidium outbreak which affected approximately 700,000 people in Lancashire in 2015. The court case, which was due to begin 30 June, has been delayed until 19 July.
