Eon has launched a two-year fixed tariff after joining forces with smart thermostat provider, Tado.
The ‘Fixed two-year Tado’ tariff is priced at £1,223 a year, which Eon said is based on national average dual fuel consumption. As part of the deal, available to dual fuel consumers only, households will get a Tado Smart Thermostat installed, worth £249.
Tado is a German intelligent climate control company, part owned by Home Serve, an international provider of home cover, and the second largest boiler installer in the UK. Last summer it partnered with mobile group O2 and AT&T to offer a “digital life” home management platform.
The Tado Smart Thermostat uses and learns from information, including a home’s layout, heat capacity and the local weather “to maintain a warm and energy efficient home”, according to Eon.
It also includes a geo-fencing feature linked to mobile phones, which ensures the heating is automatically turned down when the last person leaves home and is already “comfortably warm” when the first person is returning.
The Tado Smart Thermostat also provides a monthly Energy Savings Report, which outlines the percentage of energy saved, compared to the previous month’s usage. The report details the savings provided by individual features, such as the number of times an open window was detected, or the number of hours recorded when users were away from home.
