Encore for Old King Coal

Until very recently it looked like the UK’s surviving coal plants could be phased out even before the target date of 2024. However, security of supply concerns have given them an unexpected renaissance. While this has been widely accepted as a pragmatic move, there are concerns about how long coal will continue to play a part in our generation mix.
