National Grid seeks low-carbon alternatives to backup diesel
National Grid Electricity Transmission has issued a call for ideas for low-carbon alternatives to the diesel generators it currently uses to provide backup power to substations. The company said there are backup generators at more than 250 of its sites across England and Wales, the majority of which are diesel powered.
