National Grid trials dynamic line rating to unlock capacity
National Grid is trialling the use of dynamic line rating technology to unlock spare capacity on the electricity transmission network. The system has already been trialled on National Grid’s networks in the US and will now be deployed for the first time in Great Britain on a 275kV circuit between Penwortham and Kirkby in Cumbria.
