One Minute Intervew: James Harbidge, programme manager, Intellect

Career history: James runs the smart grids and smart metering, utilities and climate change programmes at Intellect, the UK trade association for the technology sector. He represents members to government, regulators and the media.

What was your first job?

Sales assistant at WH Smith in Loughborough.

What are the best and worst parts of your job?

The best is working closely with the highest levels of industry and government and learning how politics really works. The worst is trying to create an industry position agreeable to competing companies.

What’s your dream job and why?

Country music singer in Nashville. Just add talent.

What’s your most treasured possession?

It has to be technology related, so my iPhone.

Where did you last go on holiday?

Florida Keys.

In the Hollywood film of your life, who would play you?

Robert Downey Jr.

Reveal something about yourself not many people know.

I used to work for Disney World.

What album is currently in your car CD player?

Lady Antebellum – the US country rock band.

What’s your favourite film and TV programme?

Film: Rocky. TV: Friends.

What quote or saying do you most overuse?

“Well, that’s not gone well…”

If you ruled the world, what would you do first?

Outlaw reality television.

What’s your favourite joke?

Jimmy Carr: Swimming’s good for you. Especially if you’re drowning.
