Ofwat is hoping that its five year, £200 million Innovation Fund will help water companies collaborate their way to solving the sector’s pressing problems, and also open up a dialogue with prospective partners in other sectors, such as Fintech or telecoms. UW Innovate spoke to John Russell, senior director for strategy and planning and Harry Armstrong, director for regulatory policy.

Ofgem has awarded a total of £2.76 million to National Grid, UK Power Networks and Electricity North West for the successful delivery of five innovation projects. Two of the projects secured funding through the Network Innovation Competition, whilst the remaining three were supported by the now discontinued Low Carbon Networks Fund.
