Anglian begins phosphorous removal scheme

Anglian has embarked on upgrades to a sewage treatment plant to enable it treat wastewater to a higher standard and process double the amount. Phosphorous removal technology will be added to meet environmental targets and the plant will be ready to handle additional flow from population growth and surface water.

Northumbrian rolls out phosphorus removal upgrades

Northumbrian Water has begun work to upgrade a sewage treatment plant to meet the more stringent phosphorus discharge consent that will come into force in 2025. The company is upgrading 27 of its treatment sites to improve downstream water quality as part of the Water Industry National Environmental Programme.
