Utilities still failing to proactively identify vulnerability
Utility companies have been urged to be more proactive in identifying customers in vulnerable circumstances in order to give them the appropriate support. Helen Lord, chief executive of the Vulnerability Registration Service (VSR), told Utility Week that the "fear" of data protection has stopped organisations moving forward with data sharing. A survey by VSR has also highlighted concerns about vulnerable customers being moved on to pre-payment meters.
