Eon awards smart meter services contract to MUS

Eon has agreed a contract with Morrison Utility Services (MUS) to deliver a fully managed smart meter service for the big six supplier across London, the south of England and Scotland.

The core delivery contract will begin in May 2016 to support Eon’s objective to exchange meters for its five million customers for smart meters in line with government targets.

It will include campaign management, appointment booking, logistics, installation, maintenance and data management.

Morrison Utility Services chief executive Charles Morrison said: “We are truly delighted to have been chosen by Eon as the partner of choice for its smart meter programme.

“Having invested early in this new market with people and attained the appropriate accreditations, our focus over the past two years has been to develop the systems and processes that will support the delivery of major smart metering programmes.

“This new contract will encompass the training and upskilling of a 300-strong team of metering operatives who, supported by dedicated back-office and customer contact teams, will provide the capacity to support Eon as it looks to meet its business objectives.”

The contract is the largest of its kind for value and duration to have been awarded to a utility services provider by an energy supplier in the UK.
