Affinity Water agrees social housing tariff discount

Affinity Water has agreed a discounted water tariff for customers living in social housing with North Hertfordshire Homes.

The six year deal will replace the standing charge and rateable water charge with a single discounted charge of £90 from 1 April. This will save households an average of £87 per year.

Around 3,000 tenants will qualify for the discounted tariff, which will be collected for Affinity Water by North Hertfordshire Homes. The sewer charges will remain unchanged.

Affinity Water director of customer relations and business services Vincent Muldoon, said: “As a community focused company, we are delighted to be able to support vulnerable customers who are least able to pay their bills.

“The 3,000 tenants from North Hertfordshire Homes are the first group of customers migrated to our discounted Lift social tariff.”

The North Hertfordshire Housing customers will add to the numbers already signed up to the Lift social tariff, which has seen more than double Affinity Water’s initial target of 7,000 households sign up.

The water discount process will be reviewed when Universal Credit is introduced to the region by the government, if that is sooner than the scheduled two year review.
