American smart meter analytics firm expands to UK

The US firm Innowatts has announced it is expanding its AI-enabled analytics and digital energy applications for smart meters into UK and the rest of Europe.

The company said it will focus initially on the UK, Spain, Scandinavia and hopes to “dramatically increase the ROI (return on investment) of many smart meter deployments across the region”.

Innowatts has developed a single platform called eUtility for extracting smart meter information and translating those insights into “new sources of customer and business value”.

The platform also provides load forecasts and other predictive insights that enable proactive forms of customer engagement such as smart energy alerts, notifications and point solution offerings.

To date, Innowatts has analyzed more than 21 million smart meters globally.

The platform has been used by energy providers to lower bulk supply and risk management costs, integrate distributed energy resources into their portfolio, and optimise customer pricing decisions.

Innowatts has also announced the appointment of Dave Boundy as the company’s European general manager.

Boundy has more than 20 years of experience in the energy and digital innovation sector and previously founded and served as general manager of Intel Energy Solutions.

“The rapid expansion of smart meter deployments and IoT technology across Europe has created a trove of new data and insights on customer energy consumption,” said Boundy.

“Innowatts eUtility is designed to help energy companies leverage their data and translate it into actionable intelligence.”
