Anglian kicks off PR14 with pledge to keep bills below inflation

The company said that if inflation rises above the forecast 3 per cent during 2015-2020, it would absorb half the increase to a maximum of 4.5 per cent.

The company has said it will introduce a social tariff in 2015. In addition, Anglian has said its Anglian Water Assistance Fund will be boosted by 25 per cent from 2015, with £1 million a year put aside to support vulnerable customers.

All 19 water and sewage service operators across England and Wales have until noon today to submit their PR14 business plans to Ofwat.

Ofwat  will publish its review of the companies’ business plans in April and the results  will then be used to determine each company’s plan as ‘enhanced’, ‘standard’ or ‘resubmission’.

The category a company receives for its plan will determine how and when its price controls are set.

Anglian also said it would invest more than £5 billion by the end of the decade.

Peter Simpson, Anglian Water’s chief executive, said   “We know household budgets are under pressure, so we hope our pledge to peg back bills for the next six years, and to protect them from higher inflation, will offer help and give reassurance to our customers.”
