Anglian Water throws ideas festival

Anglian Water is holding a festival to ask the public for ideas regarding its £425 million investment plan for 2017.

The water firm has invited customers to its H2OMG event in Norwich this week in order to engage with them as part of its Big Conversation initiative.

Anglian Water serves one of the driest areas of the UK and the expanding population means that plans need to be put in place or “there simply won’t be enough water to go around”.

The annual investment in its infrastructure is part of its plan for PR19.

“Some of the options we’re talking to our customers about include transferring water from wetter to dryer areas, reducing how much water we use on a daily basis by using smart meters and new technologies like water savvy showerheads and waterless toilets,” said Anglian Water’s Regam Harris.

The water firm said they are also looking at a number of other options for ensuring future supply, including desalinisation, new reservoirs and more storage points in the network.

“The conversations we will be having with customers are about what they would like to see Anglian Water invest in to make sure we are resilient to any challenges the future may hold, be it population growth and climate change—something we have planned for, or the more unexpected things, like power outages,” added Harris.

The H20MG festival will run until 19 August 2017.
