Auriga Services, a subsidiary of Severn Trent Trust Fund, is celebrating reaching the milestone of helping two million vulnerable people.
Auriga, a public benefit entity, offers financial help, advice and grants via its partnerships with charities, utility companies, local authorities and the NHS. It manages the charity trusts for Severn Trent, United Utilities and Thames.
Chief executive Mark Abrams said: “It’s fantastic news that we have smashed our target of helping two million people by 2020 and importantly, how we’ve collaboratively improved the lives and financial wellbeing of so many people who were struggling or who needed extra support to gain their correct benefit entitlements.
“This milestone target demonstrates what can be achieved when people work together – both our people here at Auriga, utility companies, local authorities and the NHS.”
Among the initiatives that have helped Auriga hit the target is UK Care, which has provided one-to-one welfare assistance and advice to patients with renal failure by working with the University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Trust Foundation, Severn Trent Water Charitable Trust Fund and the Money Advice Service.
Abrams added: “The amazing team at Auriga have enabled us to reach our vision of helping 2 million by 2020 six months early, and has motivated us to set an even more ambitious target for the future.
“Having money worries can be very disempowering, and for those in vulnerable situations who have a life-threatening illness or a disability can be at a double disadvantage because greater assistance is needed.
“Because of this there’s even more progress to be made, and we’re now in great shape to make this happen.”
