ClientEarth has secured the right to appeal a recent court ruling to uphold the planning permission awarded to Drax to build up to 3.6GW of new gas generation. It will now be allowed to present its case in the Court of Appeal after the High Court rejected its previous legal challenge.
Uniper has signed an agreement to work with General Electric to decarbonise its fleet of gas-fired power stations and natural gas storage facilities. Chief executive Andreas Schrierenbeck said the fossil fuels burnt within its plants will be replaced with clean hydrogen “as far as it is possible and sensible”.
