Brussels calls for help to map ocean, moots making offshore wind firms’ data public

The Commission argues that once the survey works are completed by offshore developers, and licences to build wind farms granted, there is no need for the data to remain private. The consulation, which runs until December, asks whether private firm should be obliged to provide their data and under what circumstances. The Commission said that shared data would reduce the collective bill for building offshore renewables and the power grids to connect them.
