Bulb appoints Easyjet CMO to lead growth

Renewable energy supplier Bulb has announced the appointment of the chief marketing officer of Easyjet to bolster its senior leadership team.

Lis Blair, who is currently heading the marketing department at the airline, will join the energy retailer in October as chief growth and marketing officer.

Speaking about her new role, Blair said: “Bulb is an exciting brand known for putting its members first, providing best-in-class customer service and offering a simpler, cheaper, greener alternative to the old energy suppliers. I am delighted to be joining the leadership team as they build on the growth and success of the company so far and help bring green energy to many more people around the world.”

Hayden Wood, co-founder and chief executive of Bulb, said: “Lis has a fantastic track record leading global brand, customer and marketing strategy and shares our passion for solving problems with new technology.”

Bulb announced its intentions to expand into France, Spain and Texas in the United States last year and has also made two more senior appointments earlier this year to lead this drive.

Angie Bell joined the company in May as chief international officer, from cloud communications platform Twilio where she served as VP of Asia and Pacific (APAC) and Japan. She previously led the European, Middle East and Africa and APAC business for Nexmo Vonage, another cloud platform.

Emma Young, who has previously held senior roles at SoundCloud and Disney, joined as VP global communications in February. Young joins from commercial real estate company WeWork.

Meanwhile Bulb’s head of people Tom Fraine has been appointed as chief people officer. Fraine was part of the founding team at employee engagement platform Workify before joining Bulb last year. He has previously worked as deputy director for talent in the Cabinet Office and led the people team at Innocent Drinks.

Wood added: “Bulb is gearing up for another year of global growth and this experienced and talented senior team will help us reach many more households on our journey to 100 million members.”

On the Move: Limejump

Elsewhere in the sector chief executive and co-founder of energy technology company Limejump, Erik Nygard, will leave the company at the end of September after six years in charge.

Recently appointed chief operating officer Catherine Newman, will take over Nygard’s chief executive duties on an interim basis later this month.

Newman joined Limejump in April from Gazprom where she worked for 11 years in a number senior roles, most recently as director of global IT and delivery, a post that she held for three years. Before Gazprom, she worked at BP as a lead business analyst.

Nygard said: “After all that’s been achieved, it’s a massive decision for me to leave Limejump but I have full confidence in Cat, her leadership team and the amazing people at Limejump to drive the next stage of the company’s exciting journey.

“It has been an absolute honour to have worked alongside the most amazing team of people who have built Limejump to where it is today.  With the active support of Shell, Limejump is in a strong position to strengthen its services to its customers, continue to grow its market share and so realise the vision of a fully sustainable future.”

Newman said: “All of us at Limejump and our colleagues at Shell are sad to see Erik go. He founded a fantastic platform in Limejump – it is now our responsibility to see it go further. I want to thank Erik for his support since my arrival at the company earlier this year and as I have got to know the Limejump business better. I look forward to taking his vision of a green and renewable future even further with the team.”
