Business Stream wins Shell supply contract

Scottish Water’s business retail division Business Stream has won a supply contract for Shell oil and gas business in the UK.

Business Stream will supply water to Shell’s 550 UK sites as part of the three-year contract.

The company said it is developing a bespoke water management strategy for Shell as part of its sustainability drive. The strategy will include on-site water audits and deploying water saving techniques to reduce consumption and save money.

Chief executive Jo Dow said: “Our aim is to help make the company’s UK operations even more efficient by introducing water and wastewater solutions designed to deliver financial and environmental savings – and, in doing so, help to support the company’s ambitious sustainability goals.”

In December a report by the auditor general for Scotland unveiled plans to protect the company and customers against the impact of coronavirus with a support package worth £88 million. Business Stream said the backstop was only a precautionary measure and there was no certainty the fund would be required over the next two years.
