Caerphilly solar farm approved

The 57,408 panel solar farm will cover 28.7 hectares and would operate for 35 years, whilst providing a community benefit package of around £41,000.

An application for a connection to the electricity distribution network has been sent to Western Power Distribution.

The report to the council stated that it is expected that sheep will graze the land beneath the solar panels that would make up the Hendai Solar Farm, which would then be returned to agricultural use.

It added there would be a “limited” visual impact on the surrounding countryside, whilst it would also make a significant contribution to renewable electricity targets.
