Coffey keeps water role

Therese Coffey has remained in post as water minister at the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs.

Coffey, who was re-elected as MP for Suffolk Coastal at last week’s election, continues in her role as parliamentary under-secretary of state at the Department for Environment, Food and rural Affairs (Defra).

The 45-year old Oxford graduate, who was finance director of Mars UK before entering Parliament in 2010, tweeted that she was “delighted” to remain at Defra where the new secretary of state is Michael Gove.

Before the election, Coffey’s remit included flooding and water in which capacity she oversaw the launch of the water retail market, allowing businesses to pick their supplier.
