Davey demands more Eco information from suppliers

Energy secretary Ed Davey said in a letter he sent yesterday that there are going to changes to the suppliers’ licences to force them to provide more information on the costs of Eco, despite the suppliers voluntarily presenting some information.

The information the suppliers will have to provide to the Department of Energy and Climate Change (Decc) by 13 May 2014, and then at specified intervals, includes: the delivery costs incurred; the administration costs incurred; and the proportion of consumer bill costs attributable to Eco.

Davey thanked the suppliers for providing the information they have voluntarily, but added this was not “sufficient to provide the solid evidence base” that is needed when reviewing Eco and planning future policy.

He added that as Decc goes forward with the consultation on the proposed Eco changes “that the government should have access to consistent and detailed information when considering policy for the next proposed Eco period”.
