Developer seeks local comment on gas storage plans

Members of the public need to register with the IPCso their views are taken into account during the next phase of the IPC process. Interested parties have until 10 February 2012 to register with the IPC.

Halite wants to develop up to 19 purpose-built caverns in the salt field at Preesall. They would be used to store up to 900 million cubic metres of natural gas – significantly less than previous proposals promoted between 2005 -2009.

Halite’s chief executive, Keith Budinger, said: “In order to fully participate in the application process as it moves forward, members of the local community need to register their details with the IPC before the end of Friday 10 February and we would encourage anyone with an interest in our proposed Project not to miss the opportunity to have their say.”

People can register their details by visiting the IPC website or by requesting a registration form by calling the IPC on 0303 444 5000. The IPC’s reference for the Project, EN030001, should be quoted in any correspondence.
