EDF Energy Renewables has bought 11 windfarm sites in Scotland from the asset management company, Partnerships for Renewables.
The sites have a total potential capacity of 600 MW. Three of them with around 100MW of capacity already have planning consent.
One site is in the planning system already and seven other sites are in development.
The majority of the projects are on land managed by Forest Enterprise Scotland.
The company currently has 319MW in operation in Scotland with more than 1GW in development, including the fully consented 340MW Lewis windfarm project.
EDF Energy Renewables’ chief executive Matthieu Hue said it has “a well-established strategy to grow our business either by developing our own sites or through acquiring high calibre projects”.
“This deal underlines our ambitions to develop our business further and to expand the number of windfarm projects we are developing,” added Hue.
The acquisition follows the opening of EDF Energy Renewables new offices in Edinburgh earlier this year.
The senior commercial manager at Partnerships for Renewables, Neil Copeman, said it will continue to work with the Forestry Commission Scotland to optimise the deployment of renewable energy projects on the National Forest Estate.
