EDF offers new contract to SMEs

SME owners can sign up to an agreement with fixed prices of between
six and nine months and terminate at any time without penalty.

EDF said that to help SMEs manage the running costs in the early
stage of a business start-up it has also reduced the daily charge
customers pay for the fixed costs associated with their energy meter by
80% to 5p.

Richard Hughes, director of SME at EDF Energy, said: “The
combination of flexibility, simplicity and low standing charges that New
Start offers is designed to remove one of the barriers which could
affect a businesses’ success and provide the backing SMEs should expect
from their energy partner.”

EDF’s latest offering follows regulator Ofgem’s announcement of
plans to make suppliers give SMEs clearer information on their options
when a contract ends.
