ENW restores power to 6,000 homes in wake of Storm Gareth

Network operator Electricity North West (ENW) says it has restored power to more than 6,000 customers in the wake of Storm Gareth.

ENW said it was working to restore the final 653 customers by 6pm yesterday evening (13 March). Storm Gareth hit the north west on Tuesday and heavy wind continued to batter the the region yesterday.

ENW “proactively contacted” 23,000 customers on its priority services register and handled more than 10,000 calls from its customers.

Samantha Loukes, incident manager for Electricity North West, said: “Our engineers have battled some atrocious weather conditions and I’m really proud that we’ve been able to restore power to more than 6,000 properties since Storm Gareth first battered our region.

“I would like to thank our customers for their patience and support, and again our teams for pulling together to respond in tough conditions.”

Storm Gareth is the third named storm to hit this year. It followed storm Freya and storm Erik.
