The Department of Energy and Climate Change (Decc) has invited local organisations to bid for a share of the money to help fund energy advice programmes.
Each grant will be worth up to £5,000 and a further 160 projects are set to go ahead this winter.
Last year 160 projects received £900,000 of funding through the Big Energy Saving Network scheme, with an estimated 85,000 consumers being reached.
One of these projects was run by Wealden District Council, which used its £4,000 of funding to set up a pop up shop to give energy advice to locals.
Energy secretary Ed Davey said: “This new funding means vital energy saving guidance can be targeted where it is needed most, so I urge local authorities, community groups and charities to come forward and help to take on this challenge.”
