The Energy Networks Association (ENA) has launched a new service that allows customers to request data from electricity and gas networks using a single standardised form.
The ENA said its Energy Data Request Tool will open up access to network data, allowing users to make investment decisions more intelligently.
The service can be used by anyone to request any of type of network data, except personal information, from any of the distribution and transmission networks in Britain across electricity and gas. The ENA said this data could include information about spare network capacity, contracted flexibility services and electric vehicle chargepoints in different areas.
The form will also be used by networks to gain insight into the data requirements of users, establishing the volume of requests, their origin, the granularity of data requested and how it will be used to help inform future decisions in this area.
“The new Energy Data Request Tool will help customers to harness the power of data to make better-informed investment decisions, like the location for new green gas sites and electric vehicle chargepoints,” said ENA head of innovation Dan Clarke.
“Providing more transparency of networks’ data is a big step forward as we begin to use data even more proactively to unlock net zero in the UK.”
