The trade association for the energy industry acknowledged the “important role” played by comparison sites, but called them to “follow suit” with the energy sector and make their costs more transparent.
Angela Knight, Energy UK chief executive, said: “Switching supplier can be a good way to take control of your energy and comparison sites are a great way to help customers do this.
“The energy industry is committed to transparency and we believe letting people know what commission is being paid helps consumers make an informed choice and promotes consumer trust, engagement, and competition.
“The industry is working hard to make switching fast and easier so switching sites need to play their part as well.”
