First Utility cuts charges for non direct debit customers

First Utility has announced it is cutting charges for all its customers that do not pay by direct debit.

The changes, which come into effect immediately, will reduce the monthly charge from £8 down to £2.

The supplier said it is able to reduce the payment charge because of technology driven efficiencies and through absorbing some of the additional costs.

Ed Kamm, chief customer officer at First Utility said: “Our mantra is to help consumers minimise their energy spend by offering lower tariffs and campaigning for change in the industry to reduce costs and put more power in the hands of the consumer.

“We continually look at ways to put our customers first and find how we can cut costs to put more money in their pockets.

“As such we looked at ways to significantly reduce the charges for non-direct debit customers to ensure their energy bills remain as low as possible.”
