Flint bids for deputy Labour leadership

The Doncaster MP was kept in her post as shadow energy secretary last week when acting Labour leader Harriet Harman named her shadow cabinet following this month’s general election.

The election saw the end of Labour’s planned radical reforms for the energy market, including a proposed price freeze, behind which Flint was one of the major drivers.

The general election, which resulted in the Conservatives winning a 12 seat majority in the House of Commons, also saw the shadow energy department lose their shadow energy minister Tom Greatrex, who lost his Rutherglen and Hamilton West seat to the Scottish National Party.
