Former Centrica Hive CTO joins GoCo Group

Former Centrica Hive chief technology officer Seb Chakraborty has been appointed in the same role at GoCo Group.

The group owns GoCompare and energy switching services Weflip and Look After My Bills.

Chakraborty will be responsible for the company’s technology strategy in line with its long-term growth plans. While at Centrica, he led the development of complex distributed platforms across the UK, Ireland, Italy and North America, with large-scale data sets, for Internet of Things, smart metering and diagnostics.

He previously held senior positions at O2 and T-Mobile Group. Additionally he is a fellow of the British Computer Society and a chartered IT practitioner.

Electricity North West

Elsewhere in the sector, Jenny Willis has been appointed as the chair of Electricity North West’s consumer vulnerability panel.

The panel helps support the delivery of ENW’s consumer vulnerability strategy whilst also providing advice and suggestions on future policies.

Willis has experience in research, participation, and community and stakeholder engagement, particularly focussing on the needs of those who find themselves in vulnerable circumstances.

She also sits on the independent customer engagement group helping shape ENW’s business plans for future investments.

Working with consultancy 3KQ, she has previously supported SGN and SP Energy Networks with their stakeholder engagement, and spent several years working with Co-operatives UK alongside community energy projects.

Reactive Technologies

Energy technology company Reactive Technologies has announced that its director of power grids,  Chris Kimmett, has been appointed to the UK executive committee of CIGRE, the international council on large electric systems.

Along with other committee members, Kimett will help provide support and expertise on inertia visibility and system stability.

Speaking about his appointment, Kimmett said: “The seismic changes we’re seeing in the power system as we transition towards net zero bring with them a need to collaborate in setting new industry standards.

“CIGRE plays an incredibly strong role in convening conversations, sharing ideas and coordinating best practice across all transmission systems operators and I’m very much looking forward to being a part of its membership and mission.”

Ancala Midstream

Oil and gas infrastructure operator Ancala Midstream has appointed two new members to its senior management team.

Eric Marston has been appointed as chief operating officer while Nick Harrison takes up the role of chief financial officer.

Marston has more than 30 years’ industry experience, having previously worked with the Oil and Gas Authority and BP.  Harrison meanwhile has more than 25 years’ experience working for Shell, Talisman and Repsol/Sinopec.
