Former npower boss takes seat on sustainability board

Beckers is one of five new recruits to the board and said in a statement that he is interested in using the position to drive change in the sustainability agenda.

“I am a firm believer in transformative change and that is what Forum is all about. If I can do anything to accelerate that change and make a contribution that would be fantastic,” Beckers said.

“I have more than two decades’ experience working in energy, so will certainly be able to add a new dimension and approach to certain projects, as well as some expertise in programme management and hopefully a little bit of fun,” he added.

Beckers served as chief executive of the big six company until the end of 2012, prior to which he was group chief financial officer from 2003 to 2009.

Other trustees added alongside Beckers include journalist Lucy Siegle, chartered accountant Fiona Thompson, deputy executive director for Unicef UK Anita Tiessen, and former chief executive of Hamworthy Kelvyn Derrick.
