Four fifths take action following a Green Deal assessment

The third wave of the Green Deal Assessment poll showed that 65 per cent of homes have had Green Deal measures installed, by the end of September.

A further 6 per cent were in the process of installing measures and 10 per cent said they intend to fit at least one measure.

The research found that 78 per cent of households that have had a Green Deal assessment said they found it useful, and that they had confidence in the assessor.

A total of 76 per cent of respondents said they would recommend a Green Deal assessment to a friend.

Of those who have not had Green Deal measures installed, more than half (51 per cent) said financial barriers prevented them from going ahead, although this was down from 63 per cent at the end of June.

Other barriers included practical issues (35 per cent) and the need for more information (15 per cent).

Climate change minister Greg Barker said the response to the survey was a “powerful endorsement of the Green Deal”.

He added that the research “shows that Green Deal assessments are highly valued by consumers” and that they are “helping people to control their energy costs this winter”.
