Fuel poverty charity names Charles Hendry as president

Hendry, who takes over the role from Lord Boswell, is a long-standing supporter of the NEA.

Hendry said: “For over 30 years NEA has campaigned tirelessly to ensure that the dangers of living in cold homes are recognised and that the solutions to fuel poverty are properly understood and promoted. It has prompted the government and energy industry take appropriate action to make energy more affordable for all. I was delighted to be asked to serve as president, taking over the role from Lord Boswell. I look forward to working with the staff, trustees, and vice presidents to ensure that the charity’s trusted, independent and expert voice on behalf of the fuel poor continues to be heard”.

The NEA named David Porter, former chief executive of the Association of Electricity Producers, as vice president. He said: “Fuel poverty is a growing problem and NEA’s work is becoming ever more important. I welcome the opportunity to use some of the skills I have gained through many years of work within the energy sector to help the Charity in its vision to end fuel poverty.”
