Gamesa set to build offshore wind turbines in Leith

The Spanish firm said that if market developments were favourable, it would build a manufacturing, logistics and maintenance centre that could employ up to 800 people. The turbines would be for offshore wind farms.

Gamesa said it would now negotiate with the Port of Leith as its chosen preferred partner port. The firm last year opened an R&D facility in Strathclyde with currently employs around 60 engineers.
