Gemserv has appointed Alex Goody as its chief executive from mid-July, following David Thorne’s decision to step down from the position.
It comes after a record year for revenues in 2017/18 for the independent professional services provider, specialising in energy markets and data. This it says was bolstered by a surge in “new sustainable business” – a result of the company’s strategy to invest in broadening its capabilities.
Goody was appointed following an open competitive recruitment process. Thorne will be managing his transition from director of business development and consultancy to the new role over the next few months.

Goody, who joined Gemserv in 2012, has served on the company’s board since 2016. With a background in business development, strategy and marketing across energy, insurance and information technology industries, he began his career at Amerada Hess, an American energy company and later worked for insurance group Domestic and General in senior and international management roles.
