Good Energy appoints new CEO

Good Energy has announced the appointment of Nigel Pocklington, former chief commercial officer of Moneysupermarket Group, as its new chief executive.

The disruptor brand announced in February that its founder and chief executive Juliet Davenport was to step down after 20 years.

Pocklington, who will take up the role on 1 May, was chief commercial officer of Moneysupermarket Group until December. Prior to this he held a variety of senior roles within Expedia, including president of eBookers and chief marketing officer of Hotels.com. He spent a decade of his early career at Pearson, including a period leading the digital operations of the Financial Times.

Pocklington is also a non-executive director for Kin + Carta, a global digital transformation business, where he chairs the remuneration committee and is a member of the audit and nomination committees.

He said: “Good Energy is a strong business at the forefront of the transition in the energy market and the UK’s push to net zero. I look forward to leading the business on the next stage of this exciting journey.”

Davenport meanwhile will remain on the Good Energy board and become a non-executive director while remaining chair of its subsidiary Zap-Map.

She said: “Nigel is joining Good Energy at an exciting stage of its development and I am looking forward to working with him in my role as a non-executive director in the future.”

Meanwhile Will Whitehorn, chair, Good Energy Group, said: “Following an extensive search and a thorough evaluation of high-quality candidates, we are confident that Nigel’s digital and transformation experience will help to lead Good Energy in the next stage of the group’s development.

“This experience will help to accelerate innovation and drive growth across all of our businesses specifically in the new markets of net-zero of energy and mobility as a service, in which we are already strongly positioned.”
