Greencoat Capital acquires two 5MW solar farms

Greencoat Capital has acquired 100 per cent of two 5MW solar farms for an undisclosed sum.

The company has purchased Islip farm in Northamptonshire and Springhill farm in Gloucestershire for its Greencoat Solar II fund.

Both plants have been operational since 2011 and were acquired by DIF Infrastructure III in 2013.

Last September Greencoat announced the closure of the Solar II fund, which had raised £262 million.

The Solar I fund, which closed the year before, raised £295 million.

Lee Moscovitch, partner at Greencoat Capital, said: “We are delighted to have acquired these high-quality assets and continue to see significant opportunities in the solar secondary market.”

Greencoat Capital was founded in 2009 and invests in the resource efficiency and renewable energy market, with more than £2 billion under management.

Greencoat Solar has invested £670 million into 64 UK solar generation assets totaling 489MW of capacity and has more than £1.1 billion committed to its funds.

Lower-than-average wind resource in May and June hit Greencoat UK Wind’s portfolio generation in the first half of the year, putting it 6 per cent below budget at 951GW.
