Greenpeace says big six should cut prices further

The lobby group said that wholesale prices for gas had fallen by 17.8 per cent and for electricity had fallen by 23.3 per cent. Based on that, and the fact that wholesale price of gas currently makes up 47 per cent of a gas bill, while the wholesale price of electricity makes up 46 per cent of an electricity bill, Greenpeace said that companies should have passed through average reductions of 8.4 per cent for gas and 10.7 per cent for electricity.

However, it says the maximum reduction of any company has been 5 per cent for gas and 6 per cent for electricity and none has offered reductions in both fuels.
