Heat pump and battery project kicks off in Scotland
SP Energy Networks and Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks have begun a £5 million project to examine how networks can respond to the increase in demand caused by the electrification of heat. Project Re-Heat, will see heat pumps installed in 150 homes in East Ayrshire, East Dunbartonshire and the Highlands, along with heat batteries that utilise phase-change materials to store large amounts of energy in small volumes.
