Horizon Nuclear Power announces new appointments

Horizon Nuclear Power has boosted its top team with two senior appointments.

The company has confirmed the appointment of Rabih Hafez as project planning unit director and James Jones as general counsel and company secretary.

Hafez has more than 34 years of international experience working on multi-billion dollar nuclear projects and most recently was senior project manager at the Mochovce Nuclear Power Plant in Slovakia.

He will head up Horizon’s newly-created project planning unit (PPU), which will bring together the best of Horizon’s internal expertise with that of its engineering procurement and construction partners.

Jones has worked for Horizon as principal counsel for five years before being appointed as general counsel.

He leads the legal team, which is responsible for maintaining compliance and governance across Horizon.

Previously, Jones worked at PowerGen and Eon.

“I am delighted to announce James’ promotion and to welcome Rabih,” said chief executive, Duncan Hawthorne.

“Both have a wealth of experience and expertise. Rabih’s expertise in infrastructure, commercial, design and construction and project management will further strengthen our delivery planning as we progress towards becoming a world class nuclear operator.”
