It’s time to shout about introducing a capacity mechanism

Some have whispered it: without sufficient gas-fired generation over the coming decade, the lights will go out when the wind is not blowing. Thankfully, the government has started to say it out loud: that flexible gas-fired power generation, which emits about 50 per cent less carbon than coal, is key to the transition to a low-carbon economy.
