Environmental infrastructure fund JLEN has acquired an anaerobic digestion (AD) plant in Methwold, Norfolk.
The plant became operational in March 2016 and has a 0.5MWe combined heat and power (CHP) engine and a thermal capacity of around 5MWth. It predominantly produces biomethane to be injected to the national gas grid.
The acquisition increases the total capacity of renewable energy assets in JLEN’s investment portfolio to 286.2MW.
The AD plant has been acquired from EIS funds managed by Amersham Investment Management and minority shareholders, Future Biogas Ltd (FBL). FBL will continue to provide management, operations and maintenance services to the AD plant after the acquisition.

“We also value this opportunity to conclude a second transaction with Amersham and look forward to working with our partner, Future Biogas, to continue the strong performance of this asset.”
In July JLEN announced it had bought Yorkshire Hydropower Holdings for a total of £4.3 million.
