Mid-Wales windfarm blocked

Renewable energy firm RES planned an array of 127 metre high turbines at Llanllwni, generating 48 megawatts.

Planning officials had recommended refusal of the windfarm earmarked for crown-owned common land mainly used for sheep grazing about 15 kilometres north east of Carmarthen.

Officials argued against the scheme on the grounds that its scale, siting and prominence would “result in demonstrable harm to the landscape character, visual, ecological and historical qualities” of the area.
