MOSL makes double chair appointment

MOSL, the market operator in the non-domestic water sector, has named separate chairs to its panel and board following code changes approved last week.

Anne Heal, current director of the MOSL board, will assume the role of chair of the board, and Trisha McAuley was selected by the panel nominations committee to chair the Panel.

Last week Ofwat approved code changes that allow the panel and the board to be chaired independently of one another.

MOSL said the appointments mark a new means of governance with a distinction between the two roles as Jim Keohane’s tenure comes to an end this month. Keohane has held the current dual chair position for three years and led the organisation through significant changes in that time.

Sarah McMath, chief executive of MOSL, said: “This change is one of a number of changes we are looking to make to strengthen and modernise our governance at this critical time for the market. We have learnt a great deal over the last three years and it’s important that we, as the market operator, as well as the market itself, continue to evolve for the benefit of customers. I am delighted to have such strong chairs in place to help lead us in the next stage of this journey, as we begin to deliver our ambitious plans for the next three years.”

Heal, who has sat on the board since January, was active in the development of MOSL’s strategy.

McAuley has extensive experience in the energy and transport sectors as well as consumer advocacy, for which she was awarded an OBE in 2015.

Both Heal and McAuley will assume the positions from September.
