On the move: Anglian CEO joins climate action group

Several senior appointments have been announced across the sector recently. Anglian Water’s chief executive Peter Simpson and EDF Energy chairman Colin Matthews will co-chair a group of businesses working together to tackle climate change. Meanwhile Paul Massara has joined the board of renewable energy platform Zeigo.

Utility Week takes a look at these and some of the other movements from across the industry.

Anglian Water/ EDF Energy

Anglian Water chief executive Peter Simpson has been appointed as co-chair of the UK Corporate Leaders Group (CLG) alongside Colin Matthews, non-executive chairman of EDF Energy.

CLG, a sister group of the wider CLG Europe, is a group of businesses which are working to drive action on climate change within the UK.

Simpson, who has been a CLG member since 2005,  said: “This group has been instrumental in raising ambition both nationally and internationally, and now the creation of CLG’s new UK-focused group provides a wonderful opportunity to build on our success.”

Zeigo

Former Npower boss Paul Massara has joined the board of renewable energy platform Zeigo.

Massara has extensive experience in the energy sector and has previously served on the executive committees of both Centrica and RWE. He was also previously the chief executive of blockchain company Electron.

He is now an investor/advisor to Electron and Habitat Energy, as well as being a member of the Committee on Fuel Poverty.

Cadent

Two regional network directors at Cadent have been elected to serve on their Confederation of British Industry (CBI) Regional Councils for three-year terms.

The councils are elected by peers to champion local business, as well as inform CBI policy and direction.

Joining the West Midlands regional council is Kate Jones.

Jones, who joined the gas distribution arm of Warwick-based National Grid in 2014, led the technology separation for the sale of National Grid Gas Distribution – which is now Cadent.

Meanwhile Jenny Moten joins the North West’s regional council.

Moten joined Cadent in June 2019 and has previously held senior roles across a range of industries, from food to highways.
