Npower comes bottom of customer satisfaction league

Uswitch surveyed 5,000 customers from the UK’s big six energy suppliers and found that Npower customers were the least satisfied. Npower came bottom of the table – topped by Eon – for the six year in a row. It was also the only energy supplier to see satisfaction fall this year, while the company’s scores in areas such as value for money, customer service and billing service also dipped.

That came despite the overall number of customers satisfied with their energy supplier increasing to 66 per cent this year from 62 per cent last year. Uswitch said the results showed that the energy industry is rebuilding trust with consumers.

Eon, which knocked SSE off the top spot, increased its customer satisfaction levels by 10 percentage points. Some 74 per cent of its customer said they were satisfied with the energy supplier. This was attributed to the company reviewing how it treats customers and making improvements to parts of its service such as bills.

The report also found that 48 per cent of consumers would now recommend their supplier, up from 44 per cent last year, while 49 per cent believed their supplier offered value for money, compared to 42 per cent last year.

Uswitch said 43 per cent of consumers are satisfied that their supplier has them on their best deal, up 6 per cent on last year.
