Octopus Electric Vehicles has launched a product which bundles an EV, charger and electricity tariff into a single package.
The company claims its “ultimate” EV package will save UK drivers up to £3,775 on fuel bills over the course of a three-year contract on its Intelligent Octopus tariff.
Intelligent Octopus uses the company’s proprietary KrakenFlex platform to charge vehicles using an Ohme Home Pro charger when it is best for the energy system. The green tariff has a window of six hours between 23:30-05:30, during which charging costs 7.5p/kWh.
Under the deal customers’ monthly bills will cover the car, tyres, servicing, repair and also breakdown assistance from The AA.
In addition drivers will receive 5,000 free miles on the tariff. If they do not have access to home charging, they will instead receive 5,000 free miles on Octopus’s public Electric Juice Network.
Over the course of a three-year lease period, Octopus said, an average UK driver on Intelligent Octopus with 5,000 free miles can save up to £3,775 on fuel costs compared to an equivalent petrol car.
The news comes as the company announces it is expanding its US operation to create Octopus Electric Vehicles US.
