Octopus partners with Lime to promote greener London

Octopus Energy for Business has partnered with Lime to supply the bike rental company’s warehouses with clean and renewable energy.

Lime said the deal will make use of its bikes carbon neutral and support a greener and cleaner London.

The warehouses are used to charge batteries for Lime’s electric assisted bikes, which can last up to 48 hours, and are regularly replaced by Lime’s London team.

Through use of its fleet of electric bikes, Lime aims to tackle congestion, pollution levels, and the city’s carbon footprint by reducing the number of car journeys. The partnership follows the company’s launches last year in Milton Keynes and later London, where 1,000 e-bikes were positioned in Brent and Ealing.

Elsewhere, Octopus Energy has been chosen to support Hanwha Energy’s launch into the Australian retail market. The South Korean company plans to establish a new 100 per cent renewable energy retailer in October this year.

To help support the creation of the retailer, Octopus Energy’s Kraken platform was chosen after a competitive tender process. Kraken is a scalable platform that provides a variety of business functions, such as customer-relationship management, billing, and large-scale data handling.

The technology has served Octopus well in the UK market, with its customer base growing rapidly since its establishment 2015.
